Co-opted Governors

Alison Gordon

I moved back into Weybridge after a couple of years living in Tokyo and with a young daughter due to embark on school life, wanted to get involved and give something back to our community and the children within it. What better way than through St James! My daughter is now in Year 1. In my pre-motherhood days, I was a professional liability underwriter and have a business law degree, both of which have given me skills and experience I hope to be able to use in my role as a community governor.

I am currently a full-time mum to a 3-year old boy and have lived in nearby Addlestone for 7 years. I am a qualified Management Accountant (member of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, ACMA) with 16 years experience in business and finance. Volunteering as a Governor for St James enables me to gain an understanding of the education process my son will experience when he ultimately gets into the school system as well as give back some of my experience to the community. I help oversee the budget and financial controls of the school.
