Who are the Friends of St James?

The Friends of St James (the PTA) are a group of friendly and enthusiastic parents, whose role is to organize fundraising and social activities for the school throughout the year. All parents and staff of St James are automatically members of The Friends and therefore everyone is welcome at the regular Friends meetings throughout the year.

What do the Friends of St James do?

The Friends of St James’ fundraising activities enable the school to provide “extras” for the pupils that are outside of the school’s budget.

The events that are held throughout the year are organized for parents and children alike – examples of which include quiz nights, school discos, second hand uniform sales, second hand book sales, fairs, camping weekends, circus, ground force day and football tournaments - to name but a few.

How is the money spent?

To date the Friends have help fund numeracy, literacy, sports equipment, flip chart boards for year 1, personal space carpets for reception, microphones, updating the infant library with soft furnishings and books, purchasing new equipment for the kitchen, improvement of the infant and junior playground and school dinner tables and so much more. In the near future more substantial amounts will be spent on equipment for the ICT suite.

We need your help

However, The Friends always has work for willing hands! Everyone has a talent or a skill that could be put to good use. Playing an active role with The Friends of St James is a great way of making new friends and having fun whilst supporting the school community.
