St James is a happy, caring and friendly school. We are proud of its reputation at the heart of a bustling community, welcoming children from four to eleven years old. Our Christian ethos and emphasis on Values, including fundamental British Values (democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs) ensure that all members of the school community respect and support one another.
We aim to prepare our children for a life in a diverse and ever-changing society and equip them with the knowledge, skills and understanding that will enable them to succeed and contribute as future citizens. We provide a rich and varied curriculum which is further enhanced by our facilities and grounds, by school trips and residential visits and the use of expertise beyond the classroom, all of which support our aims for rich, first-hand and purposeful experiences. We believe that children learn best when they are happy and secure, in an environment which offers first-hand learning and a wide range of opportunities.
We are fortunate to have a knowledgeable and committed team of staff and governors who work together to ensure that our school continues to go from strength to strength. Our parents are also highly supportive and the active ‘Friends of St James’ Association organises fundraising and social events throughout the year which are enjoyed by everyone and greatly benefit our children and provide additional resource.
We welcome visits to our school as this will really give a true insight into what a special place St James is to work and learn as I realised very quickly when I joined in April 2015. We are proud of our school and especially of the recent improvements as we continue on our journey to deliver the best possible education we can for our children.
We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and expect all members of staff and visitors to share this commitment.
